Sport, Health and Exercise Science Student Thesis Conference The Student Thesis Conference (STC) is an annual event in the Sport, Health and Exercise Science (SHES) subject area at the University. Since its launch in 2011, STC has grown into a sector-leading platform for undergraduates to showcase their research through effective presentation and communication skills. STC aims to help you achieve your full potential through inspiration and participation. It’s a vibrant forum for you to share your ideas and the outcomes of your intellectual efforts with staff, peers and postgrads. This year we had around 500 delegates attending, with more than 200 presentations displaying the diversity of research across exercise, health, nutrition, human performance, coaching, and sport rehabilitation. The day-long conference fosters student confidence through critically engaging with and disseminating research. With our foundation and first-year students attending as delegates, our second years make a poster presentation of their proposed study plan. The third years are the stars of the show, delivering an oral presentation on the dissertation they’ve recently completed. STC is now at the heart of the student experience and underlines the progressive learning and teaching strategy in SHES. Successful SHES alumni return for STC and share their accomplishments to inspire our currents students. You’ll also be able to start planning for life after uni by talking to the employers who are among the conference exhibitors: the British Army, the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Yorkshire Cricket, Yorkshire Netball and the Tigers Trust. 14 | HULL.AC.UK UNDERGRADUATE COURSE GUIDE 2021 | 15
