Carrie Brogden Carrie Brogden was born in Virginia and was riding ponies before she could walk. Her mother brought her first pony, Lassie, home in the back of a station wagon while six months pregnant with her. Carrie was born into the horse industry and grew up with two veterinarians, dogs, cats and lots of horses on her parents’ farm, Pair O Docs, where they stood the classy old stallion, Clem. Carrie showed ponies extensively throughout her youth until she was 16 years old. Carrie graduated from James Madison University in Virginia with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Biology, looking to pursue a career in genetics. She lived outside of Washington, D.C. and ran her family's chain of upscale animal giftware stores until they were sold in 2000. The Thoroughbred bug bit her again as her mother started back with a broodmare band shuttling back and forth from Virginia to Kentucky. Carrie’s background in show hunters gave her a big leg up in developing an eye for a horse and the particular movement that most athletes possess. Carrie moved to Kentucky in 2001 and started a farm named for her great grandfather Dean Machmer, who was dean of the University of Massachusetts. To this day, there is a building on the Amherst campus named in his honor, Machmer Hall, which became the name of Carrie’s family farm. Machmer Hall is now 560 acres and including their own mares, and partnership mares, they currently have about 300 horses on the farm. Machmer Hall also preps approximately 75-95 yearlings a year for the sales. Machmer Hall graduates include Breeders’ Cup winner and Champion Tepin (G1), Mind Your Biscuits (G1), Flat Out (G1), Premium Tap (G1) Black Seventeen (G1), Currency Swap (G1) , Meadow Breeze (G1), Gift Box (G1) , Dream Tree (G1) etc. . Machmer Hall is one of leading breeders in the US. Carrie was the founding and majority partner in top 10 consignor, Select Sales before going on her own and forming Machmer Hall Sales in 2020. Carrie and her Australian- born husband Craig live in Lexington with their three great kids, Reece, Isabelle and Layne along with their 4 dogs, and cat. Carlos A. Heller Currently, Mr. Heller is the president of the Bethia Group, one of the most important financial groups in Chile with presence in a number of different areas of the economy from agriculture to communications, with MEGA, being the largest and most valued television channel in the country. To understand the character of the Bethia Group and Carlos Heller Solari, you need to understand its origins. His motivation for the horse industry is impregnated by a family passion, which turned into his lifelong project, the breeding of thoroughbred horses. Haras Don Alberto was the achievement of a lifelong dream of Liliana Solari Falabella. As a young girl she was in love with horses that her father, Alberto Solari Magnasco bred, and wanted to follow his footsteps. In 1987 she bought a farm in Los Angeles (500 km South of Santiago, Chile) and named it in his memory. Her children Andrea and Carlos, followed her enthusiasm inheriting that same passion for horses. The family thoroughbred business started with thirty mares, one of them Bethia, who provided their first joys at the racetracks, and later provided the name of the family business which was created to group together in financial, services and investments. With time, Haras Don Alberto would turn itself into the greatest family pride as it positioned itself as the main breeder in the country, with over 1,200 horses and several champions in Chile and few of them with great success in USA. With this success came the dream of being part of the elite global body of thoroughbred businesses, which was accomplished with the purchase of Vinery in 2013, one of the main farms in Kentucky, USA. The farm is approximately 450 acres in the central region of Lexington, Kentucky. A strategic region for those involved in the breeding of thoroughbreds and which has allowed Haras Don Alberto a presence during both the Southern and Northern hemisphere, while to learn upon and improve the genetics and breeding of future champions. Without a doubt the thoroughbred passion of Carlos Heller Solari is in his DNA and goes beyond the breeding and into the advancing of thoroughbred business at an international level. He is the president of the Club Hipico de Santiago, the most renowned race track in the country. Well-known as well is Mr. Heller’s love for soccer [football]. He currently is the president of the emblematic Club de Football Universidad de Chile, a professional football team. Those who know him consider him a dynamic and perseverant entrepreneur with intimate knowledge of his businesses, something that characterizes his main executive team as well, all of which currently employ 4,300 people. Mr. Heller is characterized by his constant preoccupation for making his businesses successful with an emphasis on people and the environment.

He is a regular participant at all major yearling and breeding stock sales around the world on behalf of Coolmore. Murphy has represented John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith on the Breeders’ Cup Board for several years and is presently Joint Chairman of the Breeders’ Cup Racing and Nominations committee. Coolmore is fully committed to the Breeders’ Cup Championships. We live in uncertain times and it is appropriate that the Breeders' Cup leads the drive to facilitate international harmonization. Racing and breeding jurisdictions around the world are progressing from strength to strength and the Breeders' Cup is the best vehicle to ensure that the USA remains the epicentre of the global thoroughbred industry by conforming to international standards like Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and Europe. Competitive purse money is of paramount importance in order to attract and maintain the continued investment of owners; breeders depend on them to restock at the yearling and two-year old sales. Provided the Breeders' Cup remains in a healthy financial position, we can lead the way in this regard. This is what I would be promoting should I be re-elected.

Ward hung up his tack in 1989 and prepared for his next challenge. He didn’t have to travel far to find it. He replaced his jockey license with a trainer’s badge, and in 1991 his second career began. Again, Ward found early success, quickly earning the reputation as one of the best juvenile trainers in the country. His small California based stable started to grow. The expansion pushed him East. Ward set up stables in both Florida and Kentucky, and along the way he added owner and breeder to his job title. He continued to pile up victories, enough to give him the confidence to head back overseas and compete at Royal Ascot. On June 16, 2009, Strike The Tiger, co- bred by Ward, triumphed in the Windsor Castle Stakes. This victory marked the first time an American based trainer had won a race in the history of the prestigious meet. A year later, Ward added to his international success when his homebred Madman Diaries was named two-year-old Canadian Champion. In 2014, Ward broke thru on the domestic front, winning two Breeders’ Cup races, first with Coolmore owned Hootenanny in the Juvenile Turf followed by his horse Judy the Beauty in the Filly and Mare Sprint. In his nearly 30 year career, Ward has won over 1,800 races. He has trained ten Royal Ascot winners, four champions, three Breeders’ Cup winners and has won numerous training titles including four at Keeneland. His Ward Ranch is the home to over 30 broodmares and two stallions, Hootenanny and Iqbaal. He is a true ambassador of the sport, achieving optimal results with integrity and perseverance. He has shared his success with owners from across the globe and his loyal and dedicated staff. His signature smile and unmitigated enthusiasm has made him a fan favorite and icon in the sport of horse racing.
Barry Weisbord After attending the University of Pennsylvania, Weisbord began his racing career working on the backstretch for trainers Allen Jerkens and Walter Kelley in 1972. He took out a trainer's license in 1974, operating a small stable in the Northeast before turning to bloodstock management with the creation of Executive Bloodstock Management Corp. in 1979. In the ensuing years, he co-established the Matchmaker Breeders' Exchange, and served as architect and president of the American Championship Racing Series. In 1993, he purchased a controlling interest in the Thoroughbred Daily News, moving it from Kentucky to New Jersey. It developed into the most influential and widely read daily Thoroughbred eNewspaper with an audience of over 1.75 million unique worldwide readers annually. Weisbord retired as Publisher and CEO in 2018. In 2003, Weisbord was introduced to Trakus, a cutting-edge tracking technology originally applied to hockey. Weisbord was instrumental in the application of that technology to horse racing. Weisbord is now Trakus's Chairman of the Board, and has helped to develop the technology to allow the public to better follow their horse graphically during the race and to deliver more detailed post-race data. Trakus systems are currently installed in leading racetracks throughout the world, including all Breeders' Cup host tracks. A Philadelphia native, Weisbord has owned and bred racehorses, and has been a commercial thoroughbred breeder for over 40 years. He continues to operate a small racing stable, mostly in the New York and New Jersey area, highlighted by his co-ownership of 1989 Eclipse-Award winning sprinter and 1990 Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Safely Kept, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011. He is also an active participant in stallion investment and stallion portfolio management. In June, 2008, he was elected to the board of the Breeders' Cup Limited Members and Trustees and co- chaired the Enhanced Experience Committee through the 2015 event at Keeneland. He is currently still a member of the Enhanced Experience, Marketing, Racing and Governance Committees.
Bradley S. Weisbord In 2014, Bradley founded BSW Bloodstock, a bloodstock and consulting agency that manages the racing operations of many top owners. Since inception, BSW has promoted and created over $70,000,000 of new investment in the horse business and currently has 500+ horses under management. BSW clients have enjoyed the success of over 75 Grade 1 victories including classic wins in the Kentucky Derby (Justify), Kentucky Oaks (Monomoy Girl), Preakness (Exaggerator, Justify), Belmont Stakes (Creator, Justify) and Breeders’ Cup Races (British Idiom, Monomoy Girl, More Than Real, Wavell Avenue and Uni). In 2020, the company was renamed BSW/Crow streamlining the successes of the company’s public auction and private purchases. In July 2017, Bradley Weisbord and Liz Crow launched a new sales consignment, ELiTE Sales, focusing primarily on the sale of top-level racing/broodmare prospects most of which they managed on the racetrack. Prior to starting BSW Bloodstock, Weisbord held management positions at both Zayat Stables and Team Valor International, both of which were nominated for an Eclipse Award for leading owner during his tenure. Weisbord was voted onto the prestigious Breeders’ Cup Board in June of 2014 at the age of 28. He was the youngest member to ever get elected in the boards 30+ year history. In his 4-year term, he was an active board participant working hard to grow the sport and the event that is Breeders’ Cup week. He paid particular attention to the race partnership experience and the enhanced experience committee focusing on enhancing the pre-race events. In June 2018, Weisbord was not re-elected to the Breeders’ Cup board, missing by 9 votes. Since 2010, BSW managed clients have run over 60 horses in Breeders’ Cup races.
