 Admissions Policy of Tama University
 Tama University seeks individuals with a global vision that have close connections to the local
 community and a strong aspiration to contribute to both local and international communities.

 Admissions Policy of the School of Global Studies
 SGS seeks individuals who share the school's ideals of preparing individuals to participate in solving
 global issues, with the following qualities:
  -Will to improve English communication ability
  -Broad interest in the current global society
  -Determination to complete challenges

1. Applicant Quota
   A few applicants are admitted under the International Student and Returnee designations each academic
   year.

2. Eligibility
   Applicants must meet the following admission requirements:
   1.   【International Students】Be a citizen of any country other than Japan.
        【Returnees】Be a Japanese citizen.

   2.   Prove sufficient language proficiency—
    ① (Non-native Japanese speakers): English proficiency of at least TOEIC 450, or its equivalent level,
        and Japanese proficiency of at least level N3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, or its
        equivalent. ※1 ※2
    ② (Native Japanese Speakers): Have English proficiency of at least TOEIC 350 or its equivalent
        level.
          ※1 It is necessary to take some classes whose language of delivery is Japanese in order to fulfill
          SGS graduation requirements.
          ※2 The Japanese proficiency of non-Japanese speaking applicants without JLPT-N3 certification or its
          equivalent may be assessed in an interview or by some other examination method.

   3.   Prove satisfactory completion of secondary education:
    ① Completion or expected completion of high school or secondary school with 12 years of formal
      education accredited by a competent authority in a foreign country before prospective entry to SGS.
    ② Graduation or expected graduation from an international school accredited by an international
      organization such as WASC, ACSI, or CIS.
    ③ Acquisition of an International Baccalaureate Diploma, Abitur, Baccalaureate, or equivalent, as
      approved by Tama University.
    ④ Completion or expected completion of study at a Japanese school or secondary school for Japanese
      nationals residing abroad, accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
      Technology (MEXT) of Japan.

    Applicants who do not meet the requirements above must contact SGS before applying. It is the
     applicants’ responsibility to confirm that they are eligible to apply for admissions at SGS. In
     particular, the following applicants must contact SGS:
   ① Applicants who have completed less than 12 years of formal education in a foreign country.
   ② Applicants who have a diploma from a correspondence, home-schooling, online, or similar
      education system outside of Japan.
   ③ Applicants from international schools not accredited by the aforementioned accrediting
      organizations.
Note 1: You may be asked to submit additional or supplemental documents to confirm your eligibility
    for admission.
    Note 2: 【International Students】Tuition and fees will be refunded in the event that you are not issued
    a certificate of eligibility by the Immigration Bureau of Japan;. however, your application fee will not
    be refunded.

3. Application Documents
   Please submit the following documents in order to be considered for admission to the School of Global
   Studies:
       1. A completed application form
       2. Personal Statement: In English, 300-500 words in length, free format
       3. Official secondary school transcript, sealed in an envelope and sent directly to SGS by your
            school
       4. An official high school graduation certificate (diploma), sealed in an envelope
       5. Recommendation from secondary school faculty or guidance counselors
       6.   Confirmation of Eligibility for Admission【Form202】
       7.   Letter of Financial Support【Form203】
           ※It is not necessary to submit (6) and (7) when selecting returnees.
           ※If the person pays, please attach a copy of the deposit balance certificate or bankbook in the
           name of the person.
           If the payment is made by someone other than the person concerned, the address, name,
           telephone number and relationship of the applicant will be included in the statement of payment.
           Please fill in your tuition, living expenses, and payment method, and affix a signature or seal.
           Also, please be sure to attach a copy of the deposit balance certificate or bankbook of the
           sponsor.
       8. Official TOEIC, TOEFL and/or IELTS scores obtained within the last two years if English is
       not your native language
           * Test scores must be sent directly from Educational Testing Services (ETS) to Tama University.
           The Tama University School of Global Studies school code is 5050.
       9. Official SAT Reasoning Test, ACT, GCE, or other similar test score if your native language is
           English
       10. Official certificate of Japanese language proficiency, such as the JLPT, obtained within the
            last two years if Japanese is not your native language
            *Applicants who do not possess the certificates described in 8 to 10must state so prior to
            applying, so as to allow for a preliminary evaluation.
4. Selection Process of Applicants
        ① Evaluation of Application Documents
         For successful applicants: An interview will be undertaken once the fee for the
         entrance examination has been received. The time and date of the interview will be
         determined on an individual basis.

        ② Interview (Those who reside abroad will be interviewed for approximately 20 minutes
            via telephone or internet)

5. Application Fee
         Please pay the non-refundable application fee (35,000 JPY) and remittance charge
         (4,000 JPY) to:

6. Notification
   If admitted, a Letter of Acceptance will be posted to you along with a Candidate Reply Form and an
   information packet. Admitted applications are requested to return the completed Candidate Reply Form
   to SGS at the address below by the deadline indicated.

      2022 Fall Admission: From April 1,2022 to June 3, 2022
      【Returnees】
      2022 Spring Admission: From September 5,2021 to March 3, 2022

8. Tuition fees
   *Tuition fees for 2022 will be as follows.
