Managers Message
With the onset of the New Year, I wanted to start the Managers Message with a quote that could
easily send you into the new year with a positive mindset: "Take a leap of faith and begin this
wondrous new year by believing!" January is the month of new beginnings, so It's no accident that
January is full of positive awareness days. Create your happy place. Start by being intentional during
a celebration of life week, January 1-7. This week celebrate Life. From your families and loved ones
to our friends and colleagues, this is the time to show appreciation for the people around us and the
things we have.
January 15-21 is hunt for happiness week. Let's face it after the holidays, January can seem a little
blah. Use this week to do things that bring joy and remove things that bring us down. Here's A great
tip you should try, invest in doing things that bring you happiness instead of focusing on being
happy. Devote time each day to play. Start with a Happiness Puzzle, Enjoy.

Take A Moment
Exercise: Some days can be so overwhelming, you want to scream or cry, or do a bit of both. The
environment around you might be chaotic and it might be a struggle to take a moment to relax
and clear your mind. Take a few deep breaths, and then for a few minutes, just focus on your
breathing. Take time today to declutter a space in your home or in your mind. You might want to
set up and utilize tools to help you stay organized such as calendars or lists. Identify one task you
want to do slower today. Allow yourself some quiet time to simply reflect.

Guests must be medically stable to care for themselves and/or family members independently.
Guests must live 50 miles or more from the Fisher House.
Minor children must be supervised by their families at all times.
Only one room assigned to each family. Family members or Caregivers of our Veterans (Veterans
must be accompanied by family or caregiver)
Veterans enrolled in the VA Health Care System may qualify to stay at the Fisher House while
their immediate family is being treated at our neighboring hospital
If you are in need of lodging accommodations please contact your social worker and ask for a
Fisher House referral.
