SINGAPORE POLYTECHNIC
Joint Innovation Platform for Built Environment Advanced Materials
(JIP for BEAM)

This newly established Joint Innovation Platform for Built Environment Advanced
Materials (JIP for BEAM) is funded by Enterprise Singapore (ESG) & 3 Polytechnics,
and supported by Building and Construction Authority (BCA). The JIP for BEAM will
provide innovation support for projects with strong commercialisation potential and
industry impact, to help accelerate the transformation towards a resilient and future-
ready BE sector.

Singapore Polytechnic’s Advanced Materials Technology Centre (AMTC) and 5G-
AIoT Centre collaborate with Temasek Polytechnic’s Centre for Urban Sustainability
(CUS) and Republic Polytechnic’s Environmental Technology Centre (ENVTC).
AMTC and 5G & AIOT also leverage on other capabilities within Singapore
Polytechnic, specifically from the School of Architecture and the built Environment
(ABE) and the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE). The JIP for
BEAM has a multi-disciplinary team.

In general, the BEAM-JIP will focus on 2 main areas:
1. Advanced Construction Materials/Construction Chemicals for Sustainability,
Buildability and Maintainability
2. Building Inspection, Materials Characterisation, Maintenance and Repair
Solutions

The JIP for BEAM consolidates its research and technical capabilities to actively
engage with the relevant Trade Associations & Chambers (TACs) and built
environment firms within these focus areas.

There are now 6 openings of Senior Lead or Lead Consultants at Singapore
Polytechnic for the JIP for BEAM. This Innovation Project Team will be supported by
the existing applied R&D Groups from both AMTC and the 5G &AIOT Centre.
