Community Coaching Course During Term 3 the Stage 2 Sport and Recreation class completed a Community Coaching General Principles course from Aus Sport. We used the knowledge and skills learned from this to design coaching sessions in Volleyball. The aim of the task was to teach our peers Volleyball skills, while also improving our own skills. This task gave the opportunity for students to both learn coaching skills but also use these coaching skills to benefit their learning of the sport, through self-evaluation, peer assessment and observation. In small groups the students ran several 20-minute coaching sessions where they came up with training activities and drills. During drills students would give advice to their peers and would use verbal cues, to help visualise the specific skills being taught. These activities in the Integrated Learning course allowed students to develop their SACE capabilities like critical and creative thinking: skills which can not only assist in sports but can also impact jobs and further education down the line. To these students know this; You achieved everything your forebears achieved; academically you were thrust into the same demands of assignments Foodbank program From 2018 to 2021 Marden has signed up to the Foodbank school breakfast program. This is a free service for any school in Australia providing breakfast foods including cereal, milk, toast, porridge, fruit, tea and coffee. The program is offered on Monday mornings from the start of school through to the end of recess. This proved very popular throughout the year especially the assorted fruit being left in the cafeteria. The successful program will be running again in 2022 alongside a new program which provides Young Women’s Packs which provides personal care items to young South Australian women in need who do not have the capacity to purchase their own.
