Film and Television Institute of India, Pune & Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata Joint Entrance Test 2019 JET 2019 Information Bulletin Introduction: Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Film and Television Institute of India, Pune (FTII,) and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata (SRFTI), both, leading educational institutions in the art and craft of film making and television production, need to go through a multi-stage selection process. The First Stage in this selection process is an All India Level written examination called as the Joint Entrance Test, 2019 (JET 2019). The JET 2019 scores are not allowed to be used by any other institute except the participating institutes i.e., FTII and SRFTI. JET 2019 is a written test of three hours’ duration consisting of objective type and subjective questions and will be conducted in 26 centres across India. Based on the JET 2019 score of the candidates, FTII and SRFTI will send call letters to the candidates for the Second Stage of the selection process and thereafter, on successful accomplishment of all the requisites, finally admit students in their full time regular programmes for the academic year 2019. This year, FTII will host the JET 2019 on Sunday, 24th February, 2019 in two sessions (forenoon & afternoon), across 26 centres in India. As mentioned above, JET 2019 is a pre-requisite for admission to any of the programmes of FTII and SRFTI. Sound Recording & Sound Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Physics as a subject at Design senior secondary (10+2) level. Art Direction & Production Bachelor’s degree in applied arts, architecture, painting, Design sculpture, interior design or related fields in fine arts or equivalent diploma from a recognized institute in any of the above. Courses under the TV (FTII) / EDM (SRFTI) Group The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for application for all courses (except Sound Recording & Television Engineering and Sound for Electronic & Digital Media) in TV (FTII) / EDM (SRFTI) group is Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. For Sound Recording & Television Engineering and Sound for Electronic & Digital Media, the eligibility is as under: Name of the Specialization Minimum Educational Qualification Sound Recording & Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Physics as Television Engineering/ a subject at senior secondary (10+2) level. Sound for Electronic and Digital Media Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor's degree, and awaiting results, can also apply for JET 2019. However, it may be noted that such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme, only if they submit a passing certificate from the Principal / Registrar of their University/institution (issued on or before the date as stipulated by the respective institute) stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree, on the date of the issue of the certificate. RESERVATIONS In terms of the legal framework, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST), 27% for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “Non-Creamy” layer (OBC-NCL), and 5% for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD) candidates. As defined in The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act 2016), “person with benchmark disability” means a person with not less than forty percent (40%) of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority. “Specified Disability” means the disabilities as specified in the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016.
The candidates belonging to the PwD categories are further required to refer to the prospectuses of participating institutes and note the eligibility requirements carefully before applying. It should be noted that while it is the endeavour of both institutions that the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD/OBC-NCL categories join the programme in proportions mandated by the law, they have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria and a certain minimum level of performance to be considered for the admission process. The candidates should read the updated description of selection process followed by each institute in their respective prospectuses and websites. NOTE: No change in the category will be entertained after JET registration; hence, the candidates are required to give due care while registering. SC, ST, OBC-NCL and PwD candidates must upload a copy of their SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD certificates in the prescribed form at the time of registration. Candidates claiming OBC-NCL status may please note that the OBC certificate, including non – creamy layer status should have been issued on a date within one year before the closing date of receiving application. Candidates claiming PwD status should submit latest certificate in the prescribed form which should have been issued on a date within six months before the closing date of receiving application. Certificates not fulfilling these condition will be held invalid, and therefore unacceptable. Instances of any incorrect information or process violation detected at any stage of the selection process will lead to immediate disqualification of the candidate from the selection process and he/she will not be allowed to appear for JET in future. If such instances go undetected during the current selection process but are detected in subsequent years, such disqualification will take place with immediate effect. PAYMENT OF JET REGISTRATION FEE (The JET Registration Fee shall be accepted through online modes of payment i.e. Debit Card/Credit Card only) ₹1250 for SC, ST and PwD category Candidates (for any one course in Film Wing Group) ₹4000 for all other categories of candidates (for any one course in Film Wing Group). ₹1250 for SC, ST and PwD category Candidates [for any one course in TV (FTII) / EDM (SRFTI) Group] ₹4000 for all other categories of candidates [for any one course in TV (FTII) / EDM (SRFTI) Group] Please note that for the courses which are offered by both Institutes, a candidate needs to pay registration fee only once, and he/she will be considered for admission to both Institutes.
A candidate is allowed to apply for only one course in the Film Wing group and only one course from the TV (FTII) / Electronic and Digital Media (SRFTI) group. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Bank charges for online transaction will have to be borne by the applicant. REGISTRATION FOR JET 2019 The registration window opens on 30.12.2018 and will close at 5:00 p.m. on 31.01.2019. The details will be available in the registration guide on the JET website. At the time of registration, the candidates have to select any two test cities as per their preference from the drop down menu. After the last date of registration, candidates will be allotted one among the 2 preferred cities. In the rare case that a candidate is not allotted any of the preferred cities, he / she will be allotted a nearby city. The candidates can download the admit cards from 14.02.2019 till 24.02.2019. NOTE: Admit cards will not be sent by post TEST CENTRES JET will be conducted in centres spread across around 26 test cities. Details about the test centres in these test cities will be available on this website from 14.02.2019 and the name of the test centre will be indicated in the Admit Card. The Institutes reserve the right to change or cancel any test centre / city and/or change the test time and date at its own discretion. JET 2019 SCORE Candidates' JET 2019 score card will be made accessible on the JET website. JET 2019 score is valid only till December 31, 2019 and will accordingly be accessible on the website. Thereafter, no queries(online/offline) related to issuance of JET 2019 score cards will be entertained. ADMISSION PROCESS Please note that each Institute i.e. FTII and SRFTI is independent to mandate their own eligibility criteria (including academic cut-offs and relative weights) and follow different evaluation procedure, post the JET 2019 selection process. Performance in JET 2019 examination is an important component for consideration in the selection process. On the basis of performance in JET-2019, the list of candidates short-listed for the next level of selection will be made available on the website of the respective Institutes. Each institute will send interview letters to the short-listed candidates directly. The criteria for short listing may vary for different courses. Please visit the admission hot links of the respective websites of the Institutes and read the prospectuses carefully for further information.
Medical Test: Candidates who are short-listed on the basis of JET 2019 will be required to undergo Medical test as per the selection criteria of both institutes which will be conducted by the Medical Officer(s) appointed by the respective institutes. Candidature of a short-listed candidate can be cancelled on the basis of the outcome of Medical test. Decision of respective institutes in this regard would be final & binding on all concerned. For more information, candidates must refer to the respective websites and prospectus of FTII and SRFTI respectively. IMPORTANT: 1. Both FTII and SRFTI are free to verify eligibility of candidates at various stages of the selection process. 2. Candidates are required to read the prospectus of both Institutes for eligibility and the detailed admission process. 3. Candidates should note that the mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by either of the Institutes. 4. All important information on JET 2019 including any subsequent Corrigendum / Changes / Updates and shall be made available on the website only. 5. Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a mobile phone number throughout the selection process and should simultaneously track the JET website and website of participating institutes for updates. The participating institutes will not be responsible for any non-receipt of intimation to a candidate. 6. Any dispute concerning JET 2019 would be subject to jurisdiction of the competent courts within the territorial jurisdiction of city of Pune only.
