Halloween lovers of all ages are in for quite a few treats this October at the Lawrenceburg Public Library District, because we have quite a few tricks up our sleeves! The biggest news is Halloween Sensation will return! Previously hosted by the Retired Senior Volun- teer Program, the child-friendly event will once again be held at the Lawrenceburg Fire- house, 300 W. Tate St., Lawrenceburg. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, bring your little goblins and ghosts for a night of fun. There will be hot dogs, games, candy, hay rides, balloon animals and much more! Several community organizations also will be a part of the event including Dearborn County Recycling Center, Dearborn County Health Department, CASA, CareSource, The Archaeo- logical Research Institute, River Valley Reads, Lawrenceburg Police Department and Dear- born County 4-H. So mark Oct. 27 as an important date in your calendar and bring the entire family out for Halloween Sensation! Are you ready for Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus? Members of this year’s Unified Volleyball team for Special Olympics Indiana– Ripley Ohio Dearborn Counties show off some of the items in the Lawrenceburg Public Library District’s Special Olympics Young Athletes kits that patrons can check out and bor- row, including games and books! Special Olympics Unified Sports joins athletes and volunteers on the same team to help break down stereotypes about people with intellectual disabilities. Borrow Special Olympics Young Athletes kits from LPLD! The Lawrenceburg Public Library District recently received a Unified Champion Li- brary banner from Special Olympics! Lawrenceburg Main Library has kits all pa- trons can check out to help promote and learn more about Special Olympics Young Athletes, a sport and play program for chil- dren with and without intellectual disabili- ties ages 2 to 7 years old. Through Young Athlete activities, children grow and develop in valuable motor skills, like walking and running, while also en- hancing social and cognitive skills with their peers with and without ID.
