Frederick News – January 22, 2021 Remote Book Checkout is Back! We are happy to announce that remote checkout with curbside pickup will be starting back up. See the attached flyer for more information. Letter from the Superintendent Upcoming Board of Education Meetings The first Strategic Planning Meeting will occur on Wednesday, January 20. This is considered a Special Board Meeting meeting. This meeting must be held remotely due to room capacity restrictions during the pandemic and the number of people participating in Strategic Planning. It will begin at 6:00, and can be publicly viewed online on our website. Below is a list of Board of Education meetings through the end of February: January 20 - (Special) Strategic Planning (Remote) January 27 - (Special) Closed Session for Administrative Interview (Remote) February 3 - (Special) Strategic Planning (Remote) February 10 - (Regular) Location TBA February 17 - (Special) Strategic Planning (Remote) February 24 - (Regular) Location TBA Start of Hybrid Learning Our Hybrid Learning timeline will begin on Tuesday, February 16th. I’m pleased to tell you that we have shortened our rollout so that all Hybrid students will be able to be onsite within a two week span. We still believe that it is important to use a phased-in approach in order to allow younger learners at each school to get used to new procedures with fewer students present. This also allows supervisory staff and
administrators to narrow their focus on a smaller number of students at first. However,
we will do it over a two week span rather than over three weeks.
The following is the timeline for the start of Hybrid Learning:
Tuesday, February 16: MILE classes; PreK; K; Grades 1, 2, 5, 7
Monday, February 22: Grades 3, 4, 6, 8
The week of February 16th is a short week, as there is no school on February 15th. This
means that students in Hybrid Group A in Grades 1, 2, 5, and 7 will only have onsite
learning on Tuesday, while Group B students will be onsite on both Thursday and
Friday. Although this unevenness is not ideal, our administrators note that students can
still be taught the procedures in one day, and of course procedures will be reviewed the
next week. We hope that students and parents will be glad that their children in grades 1,
2, 5, & 7 will be onsite at least one day in a week earlier than would have been the case
in three week rollout.
Please be aware of the following additional important dates:
January 20: Parents/Guardians who have selected Hybrid Learning for their children will
receive email notification of A/B schedule assignments (or AM/PM
assignments for kindergarten). Parents/Guardians of students in ECC and
MILE programs will also receive specific scheduling information.
Parents/Guardians who selected Remote Learning will also receive
confirmation notices.
February 5: Remote Learning Planning Day - No School for Students
February 12: Half Institute Day (as per published calendar) - No School for Students in
the PM;
Third Quarter Packet Pickup for Remote Students in the PM
Meals on the Bus
Please see this flyer for updates to this program. All families that are currently enrolled
are asked to submit information through a form to continue or revise their enrollment, as
currrent enrollment ends on February 10th. New enrollees are also welcome, and will be
able to submit their information in a form.
