Program Registration
             The Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Department is
              pleased to offer easy ways to register for programs.

ACCEPTABLE PROOF OF RESIDENCY
Two acceptable proofs of residency are required including (1) valid government issued photo
ID such as a driver’s license, and either a current utility bill, rent receipt, lease, or check with an
address imprint. PLEASE NOTE: Last year’s permit and library cards CANNOT BE USED as
proof of residency. The Recreation Department reserves the right to reject any proof it deems
questionable.

MAIL IN
Send a completed program application form (downloaded from the Recreation Department
website) with payment (check or money order) and a photo copy of two acceptable proofs of
residency.
   • Individual payments are necessary for each program.
   • Please note that mail-in registration does not guarantee a space in a program.
   • An email receipt will be sent to confirm your registration.

ONLINE
In order to register online you will need to establish an online account. Please allow 2 business
days for new household accounts to be approved. Residents must also submit of proof of
residency before their online account can be approved.
   • Go to www.townofmamaroneckny.org/recreation.
   • Click on red register online button to open the online portal.
   • Log into Household account or create an account.
   • Choose an Activity Type.
   • Add the program to the cart.
   • Choose the family member to register.
   • Answer any registration questions.
   • Continue to the shopping cart.
   • Checkout and choose payment option.
Please note: All online transactions will be charged a non-refundable convenience fee.
A 2.75% convenience fee is applied for MasterCard, Visa, Discover and debit cards.
A 3.00% convenience fee is applied for American Express.

Program Registration
    Programs, Activities and Events listed in the brochure
             are subject to change at anytime.
   All programs have minimum and maximum capacities.
  Some programs may allow registration after the program
        has begun. Please note fees are not prorated.

How to Watch a Good Program Be Eliminated
Nothing kills a recreation program faster than individuals who wait until the last
minute to register. There is a point when a program must be cancelled or modified
if there is insufficient registration. No one may participate without being registered.
PLEASE REGISTER EARLY!

REFUND POLICY
A full refund will be issued for any program cancelled by the Recreation Department.
Requests for refunds or household credits will be considered by submitting a Refund Request
Form to the Recreation Department at least (14) days prior to the program start date. A 10%
administrative fee will be deducted. Requests received thirteen (13) to seven (7) days; a 50%
refund will be given. No refunds will be granted less than seven (7) days prior to the program
start date.
A request for a refund/household credit due to an injury must be submitted with a Refund
Request Form and accompanied by a doctor’s note. Refund/household credit will be prorated
based on the date received by the Recreation Department less a 10% administrative fee. Missed
classes, activities, reservations or sessions of any kind, (including those due to quarantine)
cannot be transferred to another session, rescheduled, credited or refunded for any reason
unless cancelled by the Recreation Department. Your registration guarantees you a space in
the class regardless of your attendance. Note: Online registration convenience fees are non-
refundable.

PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations will be announced through the Recreation Office by calling 914-381-7865.
Make up dates apply ONLY to classes cancelled by the Recreation Department and NOT
individual absences.

 PROGRAM HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES

 Our priority is the health and safety of the participants and staff in our programs. During
 the COVID-19 pandemic we will continue to take precautions and follow recommendations
 set by the CDC, state, and local guidelines.

 Please be aware that the current situation is fluid and guidelines are subject to change.
 Do not attend programs if you are experiencing any cold or flu like symptoms or if you have
 any signs or symptoms of COVID-19

Program Registration
INSURANCE
Accident insurance is not provided for participants in any activities. It is recommended that
parents and adults obtain such insurance.

INSTRUCTOR POLICY
All staff/instructors employed by the Town of Mamaroneck Recreation must meet established
minimum certification requirements & employment standards. Therefore, only those individuals
properly authorized by the Town may teach at Town operated facilities.

INSTRUCTORS WANTED
The Recreation Department is always looking for instructors to teach new and
exciting programs. So if you have a specialty you would like to share, please contact
us at 914-381-7865.

             PHOTO POLICY
             The department reserves the right to photograph program participants
             for publicity purposes.

PROGRAMS FOR THE DISABLED
The South East Consortium for Special Services, Inc. is a voluntary, not for profit corporation
providing recreation programs and services year round for youth, teens and adults with
developmental, physical, emotional and learning disabilities. Program
information is available by contacting SEC at 914-698-5232.

 Program Code of Conduct

  When participating in our programs, all participants are expected to follow these basic
  behavior standards. We encourage parents/guardians to review and discuss the behavior
  standards with their children prior to participating in the program. Adult participants in
  our programs are held to the same standards.
    •  Every participant is expected to promote and support a safe, fun and
  		   healthy environment through productive participation to achieve their
  		   full potential.
    •  Every participant is expected to exercise respect. This includes, but is not
  		   limited to; themselves, other participants, staff members, Town facilities
  		   and equipment.
    •  Every participant is expected to know and understand the rules given by
       the program instructor associated with the program and follow them.
     • Horseplay, unwelcome teasing, abusive or foul language, hitting, fighting
       or any other form of harassment or intimidation will not be tolerated.
     • Some Youth programs may require parental supervision during the program.
  Failure to maintain any of the above standards, may result in suspension or expulsion of the
  participant from the program and any future programs.

Ice Rink • Pool • Tennis Permits
 To enjoy privileges at our Ice Rink, Hommocks Pool and the
      Tennis Courts, the following options are available:
Hommocks Park Ice Rink: Currently NO PERMIT options are available. Patrons can
pay as they go at the rink.

Hommocks Pool: Currently NO PERMIT options are available. Patrons can make daily
reservations online. See page 15 for more information.

Tennis Courts at Memorial Park: A permit is required to use the tennis courts. See page
21 for more info regarding permit options.
             Permits are non-refundable and cannot be prorated.

  The Town Center is currently open by appointment only.
  For permits, please call Monday through Friday between
           8:30 am - 4:30 pm at (914) 381-7865
                to schedule an appointment.
How to Register for a Permit
1. First Time Permit Holders:
   Registration must be done in person by appointment at the Recreation Office
   at 740 W. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck. Proof of residency is required when
   registering. See page 2 for “Acceptable Proof of Residency.” Photos will be taken at
   this time.

2. Permit Renewals or Changing Permit Type:
   • Tennis permit renewals may be done online or by mail.
   • Changing to a different permit type can only be done in person or by mail.
   • Permits from the previous year that are the same permit type, can be renewed
     online at www.townofmamaroneckny.org/recreation. Click on the link for the
		 online program registration.
   • Login to your account.
   • Click on the Permit Renewal button located under “You are Logged In.”
   • Select the Permit you would like to renew.
   • Proof of residency is required when registering. See page 2 for
     “Acceptable Proof of Residency.” Click on “Document Upload” to upload
      your two proofs of residency.

Mamaroneck’s popular enclosed public skating facility offers fun for the entire family. Take
the opportunity to learn skating, play hockey or sharpen your skills. Snack bar and lockers are
            available. Refer to specific programs for fees and registration schedule.

                  Rent the Rink Community Room
Don’t want to host a party in your home? Rent the Hommocks Park Ice Rink Community
Room for group meetings or private parties. Rental Fees are based on a four hour period.
Room dimensions are 46’ x 40’ with a maximum occupancy of 131 people.
No smoking or alcohol is allowed. There is a 9:00 pm curfew.

Hommocks Park Ice Rink

The Hommocks Park Ice Rink offers Learn to Skate classes that are designed to teach the
fundamentals of skating in a fun environment! We follow the guidelines of the Ice Sports
Industry program that is based on consistent and well-defined levels of achievement that
have proven to guide a skater from basic beginner maneuvers through significantly more
advanced and even competitive skill sets.

Skating Ages & Levels
Group Lessons are available for beginner through advanced levels for those ages 4 through
Adult. See page 11 for an explanation of the Skating Levels & Elements.
Day:      Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays
          There are five (30) minute classes per session.

          Skate rental not included in fee
Please Note: There are certain skating levels that are difficult and may take a skater more
than one session to complete. All students will be tested on the fourth week of each session
to determine their skating level. Membership to I.S.I (Ice Sports Industry) is optional and
available for an additional fee. I.S.I members who successfully complete a level will be given
a badge.

                              How To Register
                            Registration is only available online and only during the dates and
                            times listed under the Registration Dates section (see page 10).
                            Those who already have an online household account can register
                            directly through the website, www.townofmamaroneckny.org/
                            recreation. For those who are new or have not previously established
                            an online household account, please refer to page 2 for details on
                            setting up an account. (Please plan accordingly since new accounts
                            may take up to 2 business days to activate).
Registration is only available for one session at a time. There is no priority given to participants
who are currently enrolled. Once registration begins, it will remain open online until the
classes fill or until the deadline. Classes will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
After the deadline, any remaining class spaces can only be filled by contacting the Skating
School Director, Sara-Beth Carbonaro at hpir@townofmamaroneckny.org or by phone at
914-834-1069, press prompt 3 for the Skating School.

 First-Time Hockey Players
 Looking to get ready with skating before the hockey season begins?
                    It is recommended that all first time House Hockey players take
                    this class. Focus will be on forward and backwards skating,
                    hockey stops, forward and backward swizzles, gliding on one
                  foot, forward crossovers, 2 foot turns on hockey skates. Hockey
              skates and helmet required.

Players will be playing on both Tuesdays and Saturdays each week. Station based skills
practice and Cross Ice Games will be organized (games may be restricted based on NYS
guidelines). This program places emphasis on fundamental USA Hockey certified instruction
and basic hockey strategy.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS: All players will be evaluated and placed in a group
by ability. Evaluations will be conducted during the first 2 dates of the season. The Hockey
Director reserves the right to assign players as
necessary.

Note: Membership to USA Hockey is
recommended although it is not required to
participate in the program this year.

      The Hommocks Swimming Pool is available to residents and
       non residents. Currently there are NO Pool permit options.
     A daily reservation can be made online. No walk-ins or on-site
      reservations are available. Pre registration online is required.
    Please note: Recreation Department programs run during public

         HOW TO REGISTER FOR A POOL RESERVATION
            RESERVATIONS CAN BE MADE ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE.

  1. Go to www.townofmamaroneckny.org/recreation.
  2. Click on the Register Online button.
  3. Enter username and password.
  4. Select Hommocks Pool Daily Reservations.
  5. Choose the time range you want to book and click “check availability”.
  6. You will be brought to a calendar. Any available dates will show in blue.
  7. Once you have chosen your date(s) click “Add to Cart” at the bottom of
      the screen.
  8. Choose the family member(s) registering and continue through the
     registration process.
Please Note: If a member in the household doesn’t have a birthday listed in
our system, you will be charged the Adult Fee of $10.00. Call the Recreation
Department to update the missing birthdate during business hours.

              GENERAL PROTOCOLS AND GUIDELINES

 • Masks must be worn when entering and exiting the pool facility, when using the
 restrooms, and at any time not in the water or able to social distance.
 • Required to social distance from any non family members while in the pool water
 and the pool complex.
 • Management reserves the right to close certain sections and/or pool to ensure
 swimmer safety and meet health code requirements.
 • Children 12 and under are prohibited from admittance without adult supervision.
 • Children in diaper stage must wear a swim diaper.
 • Baby carriages & chairs are not permitted on the main pool deck.
 • Please use gender specific locker rooms with children 7 and older.
 •Weather Closures – the pool will close upon the first clap of thunder & will remain
 closed until management deems it safe to re-open. No refunds for inclement weather
 conditions.
 •Patrons are expected to familiarize themselves with all pool rules and regulations.
 •The Town of Mamaroneck reserves the right to change its guidelines, policies and
 schedule as needed.

for cancellations by the Recreation Department ONLY.

assigned a half-hour time slot by the aquatics staff based on the results of the skills evaluation.
Participants may NOT register for a specific class time. The class assignments will be emailed
out the Thursday before classes begin after 4:00 pm. Missed skills evaluation will delay class
placement and participation. Child to instructor ratio of 5:1 for Tots and 6:1 for Youth will be
maintained.
Registration is required prior to the skills evaluation, NO registrations will be taken after the
skills evaluation.

first day of class.

This program is a blended learning course, participants are required to do web based
course work at home and meet for onsite skill sessions once a week. This program consists
of instruction in Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer
(certification good for 2 years). Participants must be able to complete the Pre Course Skills
test (bring a bathing suit and towel).

The skills required to take this course are as follows:
  1. Swim 300 yards continuously using 100 yards
		 front crawl, 100 yards breast stroke and 100
		 yards choice of freestyle or breast stroke.
  2. Swim 20 yards using front crawl or
		 breast stroke, surface dive to a depth
		 of 11 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object,
		 return to the surface and swim 20 yards
		 back to the starting point with both
		 hands holding the object and exit
		 the water without a ladder or steps
		 within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
  3. Tread water for 2 minutes using
		only legs.
           No refunds for this program. Any missed class will result in failure.

Concentration will be on the concepts of match play and double strategy with an
emphasis on shot placement, player positioning,g and point play while playing
doubles games. Players will rotate through courts during the session. Space limited
to a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 12 players each week. Registration
opens every Monday for the upcoming week.

Player requirement: Must be a 3. 0 – 4.0 level player. Program director may require
an evaluation for new players in advance prior to participating.

animals in this lively interactive program with “Dawny Dew” Halasz. Music is a natural
connection tool that brings people together and helps them interact with one another. Children
are engaged with the use of puppets, felt board activities, nursery rhymes and songs will be
encouraged. Active participation by parents or caregivers is encouraged. This musical program
promotes early language skills and socialization. Space is limited.

“Bust A Move” is the perfect Hip Hop class for children
who want to dance, stay active, and learn how to
freestyle! Musicality, rhythm, and creative movement
are the key components of this fun dance class that
teaches boys and girls alike to step, stomp and shake
it out. “Dawny Dew” will focus on beginner routines,
dance games and fun bopping moves.

Parent & Me Soccer Tots and Soccer Tots is Skyhawks flagship program! These soccer-
themed motor skill classes are very easy for youngsters to get into. Younger age groups focus
on developing motor skills and self-confidence; older classes focus more on developing core
soccer skills and personal focus, and introduce an element of light competition. Instructor-
to-student ratio is kept small to maximize individual development, and above all else we
promote fun, fun, fun! Parent participation required for ages 2-3 years.

This Backyard Sports program offers children ages
4-6 years old an engaging 3-weeks of soccer and

every player. Each 1-hour session will include age
appropriate small-group skill stations, daily contest
and games with Westchester’s leading teachers and
coaches.

TGA makes it convenient and fun for your
child to learn and play golf. Our curriculums
were specially designed by industry-leading
golf professionals and education specialists to
ensure that the lesson plans are age-appropriate
and easy to understand and retain. Students will
experience a mix of golf instruction, rules and
etiquette lessons, educational components, char-
acter development lessons and physical activity
as they advance through the five-level program. Our screened and certified
instructors have a passion for working with children and are trained to help your
student athlete develop a strong foundation of skills and knowledge as well as a
passion for the sport.

Kids Cookery is happy to offer “hands on” cooking classes. Each participant will
prepare their own recipe and bring it home with the baking instructions. Learn to
cook: Cheesy corn biscuits, fresh dough apple braid, broccoli salad with dressing,
antipasto Stromboli, and sweet zucchini muffins and more. Fall and Winter session
will have different recipes.

“Dawny Dew” Halasz has designed these classes to introduce your child to ballet, jazz and
modern dance with just the right balance of discipline and fun. This class will feature great
music with simple choreography, fun games and creative movement while promoting gross
motor skill development in a relaxed setting. Child should bring a water bottle to class.

The Kid’s Zumba program is the ultimate dance-party and fitness for young Zumba fans.
Classes feature kid-friendly routines based on the original Zumba choreography that gets kids
moving to a melody. The instructor will break down the steps and incorporate dance fitness
elements through an international mix of music and dance. Stephanie Hart is a Licensed Kids
Zumba Fitness Instructor.
