AS PRESENTATION 2019-2020
LFS’ AS (Sports Activities for Secondary School Students) have the dual aim of
organising/developing sports and artistic activities for all students, and of teaching students to
participate in associative activities, with inter-institutional matches as structuring events. School
sports thus contribute to balanced training for all young people who join the AS, and also favours
integration and academic success. It develops a sense of living together in harmony, of respect for
others and recognition of differences. Finally, as an extension of PE classes, school sport is as
much discovery as a confirmed practice; it is a means of learning, training and progressing in sport
and the arts for as many as possible, so that everyone can achieve to the best of their abilities.
Thus, as a continuation of the primary school’s extra-curricular activities (ECA) and within the
framework of the school project, we offer a set of 16 sports activities this year for secondary school
students (6e to Terminale):

Individual activities: AQUATHLON, ATHLETICS, BADMINTON, CLIMBING, DANCE,
GYMNASTICS, JUDO, KARATE, SWIMMING, CROSSFIT, TABLE TENNIS.
Collective activities: BASKETBALL, FOOTBALL, RUGBY, TOUCH-RUGBY, VOLLEYBALL.

RULES FOR AS 2019-2020
                               FOR PARENTS/STUDENTS

                                        REGISTRATION
§ All parents of LFS students will receive an email when the registration process is
    launched.
§ AS registration is on an annual basis and should be done by parents on the EDUKA portal
that they can access from 07/09/2019 to 06/06/2020.
§ Registration is subject to a prior approved GIRO application: no access to activities
registration through EDUKA portal without an active GIRO.
§ Each registration, once validated by the AS office, is fixed and definitive.
§ Each student may register for an unlimited number of activities within the limits of available
places. For pedagogical and safety reasons, the sessions can only accommodate a limited
    number of students.
▪ In the event of insufficient enrolment (less than 15 students), the activity offered will not be
    confirmed.
§ Provisional start of activities from 16/09/2019 to 28/09/2019, during which time the student
will be able to unsubscribe or change his/her activity.
§ Official start of the practice of activities on the 30/09/2019, official end on the
    06/06/2020.
§ Participation in AS is strictly reserved for LFS students, except with the specific
authorization of students present at the LFS as part of the DNA school exchange program.

                                        ANNUAL FEES
§ The 2019-2020 fee per activity session is SGD 370 for 1H30 week and of SGD 455 for
2H/week, valid from 30/09/2019 to 06/06/2020 (annual registration). E.g.: my child
wants to participate in both AS Swimming competition sessions (2 X 2H week), and a
    Badminton session (1H30). The total cost will be (455 X 2) + 370 = SGD 1280 for the
    whole year.
§ The parent’s committee, within the limits of its budget, will provide financial assistance for
each scholarship holder, on the basis of the allowance for one annual extra-curricular
sports or cultural activity. This deduction of fee will be calculated automatically on the AS
    invoice.
§ The AS "representational" outfit is included in the price. It must be worn when the child
represents the school at local or international matches/events. It will be available at the
French School’s store in the course of the first term.
§ The "specific" AS outfit, that is the outfit specific to the activity being practiced (e.g.
swimsuit, rugby jersey, etc.) is not included in the price. Its cost is borne by the families
and it will be available for sale at the French School’s store at the end of the first term.
§ In some cases, students are asked to pay a registration fee to participate in sporting
    events.
PAYMENT - INVOICING
The AS must be paid by direct debit (GIRO) to facilitate administrative processing and
manage the volume of payments. If you do not yet have GIRO in place, you can download
the form from the French School’s website. The completed original GIRO form must be
mailed or handed to the reception desk of The French School (K building - 2nd floor) to the
    following address:
                                    Lycée Français de Singapour
                                             Home - GIRO
2900 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 Singapore 569935
Annual billing will be done in mid-October and invoices sent by email. The date of direct
debit will be indicated on the invoice (on average 2 weeks later). As a reminder, your
invoices and payment receipts are available on your Eduka portal / Invoicing section / 3rd
    tab "view and print transactions".

                                           NEW PARENTS

For parents registering their children with AS for the first time (either because they have
recently arrived in Singapore or because they have never registered their child(ren) in
previous years). For these "new parents", the absence of GIRO will not be an obstacle
during the registrations opening on 08/09. However, the GIRO form will have to be
provided before 30st September, the official start date of the activities. In the absence of
the GIRO form, the registration will be canceled and a new registration will be necessary
later on, as soon as the GIRO status is correct.
    Important recommendations:
§ The implementation time is on average 4 weeks, do not hesitate to start the procedure at
    the earliest.
§ Given the numerous rejections for non-compliant signature, we invite you to get your GIRO
form approved, by having your bank stamp "signature verified" before returning the form to
    us
§ If you wish, you can set a debit limit for your GIRO debits.

                                   ARRIVALS DURING THE YEAR

Registration for AS is possible throughout the year. In case of arrival during the year, the
registration can be confirmed upon provinding the GIRO form, which is the prerequisite to
    registration.
Billing is done based on the following rules:
§ Registration after the 30st September and until 31/01/2020: 100% billing (no proration)
§ Registration in Term 2 (from February 2020 to March 2020): 50% billing
§ Registration in Term 3 (from April to June): 25% billing

It should be noted that students who have recently arrived at the LFS for the start of the new
school year in January 2020 benefit from a 50% rate in order to facilitate their integration into
the LFS and Singapore.
REFUNDS
No refunds will be made during the year in the event of bad weather, haze, student
absence, withdrawal, or due to the exceptional cancellation of a session.
Partial refund can be provided in two cases only:
▪ Definitive departure of the school before 31st of January 2020: reimbursement of 50% of
    registration fees.
▪ Final cessation of an activity following a medical problem: reimbursement of 50% or 25%
depending on the date. A medical certificate will then be requested from the family.
Any activity that a student has started is due and will not be refunded.

                                   INSURANCE POLICIES
It is up to the parents to subscribe for their children to:

•   A CIVIL LIABILITY INSURANCE;

• A PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE

On its end, the French School takes out two insurance policies:

    - PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE:

It covers legal liabilities to third parties, including students, in the event of bodily injury
and/or material damage, in circumstances where LFS is held liable. It does not in any way
cover the personal responsibility of parents, so we strongly recommend that you take out a
Personal Liability policy, which provides compensation when LFS is not considered
responsible (for example, it would not be covered if two students “bump” into each other in
    a rush).

    - PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE:

This insurance policy is provided by the school as an additional benefit, this is not a legal
obligation. It would complement the family’s health insurance policy in the event that the
latter would not fully cover the family’s medical expenses. The school’s policy would then
    cover the difference.
This policy covers, amongst other things, certain medical expenses resulting from an
accident occurring in the context of activities organised by the LFS. This insurance does
not cover damage to objects such as glasses.
ABSENCE TO TRAINING SESSIONS
▪ Any absence of your child must be justified. Three consecutive unjustified absences will
result in the permanent exclusion of the AS (except in case of sickness or injury, on
    presentation of a medical certificate).
▪ If the activity supervisor is absent, he or she will be replaced whenever possible. An
additional AS session may be offered if two or three sessions could not be conducted by
    the coach.
▪ 2e, 1e and Terminale students are allowed to leave the school’s premises if the activity is
cancelled due to the supervisor’s absence or to severe weather conditions at the
beginning or during the session (storm alert warning, closed or flooded fields/tracks). If this
occurs, parents will be informed by email or telephone.

                RESPECT FOR OTHERS, RULES, EQUIPMENT
▪ All participants must respect the ideas and the people participating in the activities.
Physical and verbal abuse will not be tolerated.
▪ Punctuality and training hours: students are only supervised during their training sessions.
▪ Respect for others (opponents, referees, teammates, and teachers). Failure to comply with
this rule will result in a temporary or permanent exclusion from the AS.
▪ Respect for the equipment and the environment: the school will charge any damaged or
    lost equipment.
▪ Students should not bring and leave in the locker room any jewels, valuables,
smartphones, tablets, etc. We reject any liability for loss or theft.
▪ Suitable outfits and sports shoes are required for sports activities. For outdoor activities,
students should wear outfits appropriate to the weather conditions.

In the event that parents and students do not comply with these internal rules, the School
reserves the right to cancel the student's AS registration, without reimbursement.

                STUDENT’S COMMITMENT - COMMUNICATION
Participating in an AS activity is a commitment, which is why students who are selected or
summoned for various tasks (refereeing, organisation, coaching) commit to completing
    their duties.
As part of the communication and report of the sports meetings, the photos of the
members can be published, with your agreement, on the LFS website and/or on the AS’
    Facebook/Instagram.
