Graduates, colleagues, friends, family and honored guests: This moment
celebrates the culmination of years of diligent work and dedicated
study by the exceptional students who select Webster University on
their path to academic excellence. Webster is a worldwide community
whose students make their homes in places as far apart as Accra
and Geneva, Tashkent and Saint Louis, among the many communities
Webster calls home.
We are proud to connect one another throughout this network with the
opportunities that enable our graduates to complete their degrees as
truly global citizens.
As Webster alumni, these graduates join an elite global community of
accomplished and connected citizens. From the first two graduates in
the Class of 1919 to the nearly 4,600 graduates in the Class of 2021,
they embody the promise of Webster’s enduring commitment to inclusive
education.
Graduates, we know the significance of this day in your life and career,
and like you, we look forward to the time when large celebrations can
again safely be held in person. But today it is important that we take
this moment to offer you formal recognition, our deepest respect, and a
heartfelt congratulations from all of our family, friends, and colleagues.

Dear Class of 2021,
You made it. It has been a long stretch learning trough Zoom, three
semesters of vir tual classes, hybrid learning, masks, and hand
sanitizer. But more than that an unprecedented time where solitude
has been more the norm than the rich social interactions that accom-
pany a university life.
You have witnessed a changing and changed world with more
braver y than any of us could have imagined we possessed. You all
experienced losses, in some way, and you all found new paths for ward.
You have all gained knowledge, resilience, and wisdom. I couldn’t be
prouder of you, even though we still can’t all be here together.
This year will stay with you in the years to come, and I hope you will
remember ever ything Webster was to you before, during, and after it.
An education is yours for a lifetime, the diplomas that will soon be
hanging on your walls a reminder of it. It is my privilege to have been
a par t of yours. I hope you will return to celebrate Commencement
with us in May 2022, as you deser ve. Then you will have gained pers-
pective after this difficult time and will bring us your fresh insight of
your first experiences at work or where new realities have taken you.

Alumni Association
There are a few moments in life, everyone wants to keep as many memories
and often these moments are periods of change in life. Graduation is such a
moment when you look proudly back on what you have achieved and creatively
plan your future. On behalf of the Webster Alumni Association, I want to
congratulate the class of 2021 to this success and I wish you all the very best
for the next steps. The beauty of the Alumni Association is that we stay
connected in telling our stories and these stories often are inspirational. They
are the stories of global citizens trying to transform knowledge into passion,
knowledge into actions to transform their environment.
As a community of more than 4000 alumnae/alumni we see how education
has a real impact on societies. Our alumnae/alumni live in each corner of the
world and their ability to analyze, to think and to create are changing societies
4500 often for the better. If we as a university have achieved this, we have fulfilled

Sadly, we can’t come together as a community to celebrate your success this
year. By celebrating virtually we acknowledge the responsibility to protect
others and the most vulnerable. However, the future is promising, and we will
